Ontario IGaming Revenue Increases 25% Year-Over-Year

Ontario gaming revenue increased 25% year-over-year.
- Online gambling establishments brought most of the profits, reporting $248 million of the $313.2 million overall.
- Ontario iGaming released in 2022 and by its third year created $3.2 billion in income.
The numbers, which iGaming Ontario published this week, also showed April revenue rose from March, regardless of Ontario's gaming consumers decreasing their spending.
The total was $296 million in March 2025, a 5.8% month-over-month boost.
Ontario's regulated online gambling sector is the first in Canada open up to industrial competitors. Launched in 2022, it's grown considerably and now has 49 licensed operators running 83 digital wagering websites.
The market also taped $2.4 billion in gaming revenue for its 2nd year of operation; this considering that developed even more, as earnings topped $3.2 billion in the 2024-2025 .
Online gambling establishments controlled ontario profits
Of the Ontario market's three sections, online casino gaming dominated, with a 35.6% boost to $248 million, 78% of April's overall total.
Sports betting contributed 21% of the month's earnings, including $64.5 million, although this was practically the same from last April. Poker created $5.9 million in April, a 3.5% increase from in 2015, and 2% of the total market.
Ontario operators taped gamer invest drop
Although general income figures were positive in April, the amount of money gamers gambled dropped compared to March. March's total handle was $8 billion, which was up to $7.8 billion in April, an approximately 2% drop.
That decline was not replicated year-over-year, however. Compared to player invest in online casino bets in April 2024, this year's figure was up 14.1%, to $6.58 billion, and sports wagering wagers revealed a 14.1% rise, to $1.07 billion.
Online operators also had some great news on the variety of gamers in the market. Ontario iGaming figures show that in April, active monthly player accounts hit 1.1 million, a 20.3% boost over 2024 and a 2.8% increase from March.
There was also a boost to average profits per account, increasing 4% year-over-year to $287.
The success of Ontario's iGaming design led other provinces to attempt to produce their own industrial gaming sectors. Alberta recently passed its own iGaming law (Bill 48) in May, and should launch early next year.
